If God isn't moved by it, then why are we

A lot of us grew up with learning to say it. We only used it for when we really wanted something. We were taught that it was considered "asking nicely". That's right I am talking about the word "please".

I get frustrated with this word because we've been taught so well that its a word that is suppose to be this magic formula to get what we want. "Ask nicely or I won't do it for you" its a form of control. This is such a selfish mindset. Control in itself is very selfish because it shows that you are doing or saying something in order for yourself to be comfortable at any given situation. Its also controlling because we feel like, oh if we say please that is suppose to get your heart to move in the direction I am wanting you to go. Sure it sounds good but at its core a lot of times its there because we think its a magic word.

For example I got frustrated at my wife the other morning because we both woke up and she asked me to go get her a cup of water. She then began to say "please" as if that was suppose to move me faster or win my heart over "please please please please please" until finally I was like "STOP! THATS NOT GOING TO MOVE ME".

We are not peasants. We are kings and queens. Ask and you shall receive. Now me saying that it was going to move me I didn't mean that I wasn't getting the water but that her saying please was not going to make me go any faster or get it to her in the snap of a finger. As I said we are kings and queens. Step up boldly and simply ask and you'll receive. There is not specific formula but if we are using a specific word because we believe its going to get things going faster then we are gravely mistaken.

I will end on this. It also teaches us patience and helps us understand who we are in Christ. Ask, believe, receive. Lord can I have some water, of course you can. Now wouldn't it sound silly to go to a king and say can I have some water please please please please please please please. When we do this, and most of us have which is why I am making this post, we don't even give the lord time to give us an answer. The Lord is not rude, he is not going to interrupt, we can talk and talk and talk but its up to us to quiet ourselves and receive the answer.
